Classes start tomorrow, though I still have one of my classes today. =/ Unfortunately, my schedule seems to read stress-central to me. x_x I’m actually trying to find a work-study job as well (I have two interviews this week), but I don’t even know if I’ll be able to pull off a job plus classes. @_@

Most likely will be dropping GRC 101, but I want to go to at least the first class to see how much work it’ll be, just in case it might be easy to do.

Also, it doesn’t help that I’ll be missing this Thursday and Friday of class because I’m going to the CSI West Region Conference. x_x I should probably e-mail my teachers to tell them.. Or should I just tell them on the first day of class? Whatever I do, I probably won’t be able to make up the classwork, so I’m not really sure…

[UPDATED SEPTEMBER 27, 2009 @ 7:40PM]: Dropped GRC 101, even though it seemed kinda interesting, ’cause I figured having a break to eat would be more beneficial than running up to the PAC (from the other end of the school) and back down for just an hour-long class. XP I guess I can always take it next quarter or something.. Also, didn’t get either job I applied for. Although I’m semi-disappointed, I’m relieved as well, since I don’t think I would even be able to handle it.

The courses I'm taking this quarter, in case you wanted more information on why my life is so hectic all the time. XP

Time Schedule
ARCE 223 // MWF // 1210-1300
ARCH 353 // MWF // 1310-1800
ARCE 351 // T // 0810-1100
ARCE 223 // R // 0810-1100
ARCH 342 // TR // 1310-1400
ARCE 227 // TR // 1410-1500
ARCH 342 // TR // 1610-1800
MLL 103 // Credit By Eamination

ARCH 353 // Architectural Design 3.3
Catalog Description: Development and exploration of architectural theories, building systems, and design processes involved in creating appropriate architecture with an emphasis on socio-cultural and space planning/life safety concerns.
My Take: This is the class I usually refer to as "studio". As an architecture student, I have a studio every quarter, fifteen hours a week. We also get a key to our studios, so I can be in studio at any time, depending on what I have to due and stuff like that. This quarter, my design project for the quarter is to design a winery on a site located in Paso Robles (Central Coast, California).

ARCH 342 // Architectural Practice 3.2
Catalog Description: Concepts, methods and processes pertaining to the preparation of outline specifications, production of design development drawings, life safety, systems integration and cost estimating.
My Take: Another core architecture course. It's broken up into a lecture component and an activity component. I usually refer to the lecture component of this class as either "lecture" or "practice". The lecture portion is just that -- a one-hour lecture two days a week. The activity portion this quarter is with the same professor I have for studio. Usually when this happens, practice activity turns into just a continuation of studio, and that's not any different this quarter.

ARCE 223 // Mechanics of Structural Members
Catalog Description: Advanced topics of stresses in beams. Plastic bending, unsymmetrical bending. Combined stresses. Stress transformation. Buckling. Deflection of beams. Material test laboratory.
My Take: Taking this class for my ARCE minor -- I'm not so hot at ARCE and I haven't taken a real ARCE class for a year, so lots of troubles. There's a lecture and a lab component to this class. The lecture has homework due every Friday with about eight problems per week. For me, eight problems DEFINITELY take more than eight hours. =( 'Cause I suck at ARCE hardcore. =/ Also, another issue I have is that this an ARCE core major class, so all those ARCE students will definitely bring up the curve. =(

ARCE 351 // Structural Computing Analysis
Catalog Description: Computer calculations, programming basics and technical reporting. Emphasis on use of spreadsheets as a tool to analyze structural elements.
My Take: Lab class that is attached to ARCE 223. We're mostly working on Excel in the class, but the labs seem to be super long. =( Also, we have homework excel projects to do every week, so I'm kinda worried it'll take a lot of time. =/

ARCE 227// Structures III
Catalog Description: Advanced topics in two-dimensional and three-dimensional equilibrium of structural building systems.
My Take: Another ARCE major class. The thing is, I'm retaking this class 'cause I failed it last year. x_x I pretty much know most of the information for the class (since I learned it last year, but messed up on the two tests in the class), so I'm hoping that I can do really well this time. The bad news is that the homework is still long, so lots of time will be devoted to this class as well. =/

MLL 103 // Foreign Language III -- Chinese
Catalog Description: Organized group instruction arranged for students who wish to acquire basic skills in a foreign language indicated by subtitle. Laboratory drill required. Language taught in its cultural context.
My Take: The third quarter of Chinese class. I'm taking this credit by examination 'cause the times interfere with my studio. x_x Kinda bad taking it by exam 'cause you don't learn as much as you would in class -- especially since this is a language class. But the thing is, I've gotten through the other two quarters of Chinese, so it would be a waste if I can't even say I completed a year of Chinese. Last quarter, I also took Chinese by examination, but this quarter is super busy with architecture and ARCE, but hopefully I can still do well self-studying Chinese on top of that.

So yeah, there is is. The only major problem I have with my schedule is that I'm taking ARCH major core classes and ARCE major core classes at the SAME TIME. There is obviously problems with the workload because of that, since people from either of those majors would just have the core classes (read: intense workload since it's your major) plus one/two GEs or side classes. I, on the other hand, have double the hardcore workload. x_x Let's just hope I survive with adequate grades.

So yeah, it's been like, nine months since I last posted and even then, it was just a New Year's Resolutions post... And I totally broke a resolution from the get-go, since one of them was to post once a week, and we can all see how that went. x_x So yeah... This is me trying to post everyday, even if it's just a short little nothing post, haha. ^_^;; But then again, it's easier to say something like that and mean it when it's still summertime and the school year hasn't started yet, right? x_x But I'l do my best, since I miss being able to just say, oh, lemme look at my LJ to see what happened on whatever day.. Or as [info]aznearthdragon called it, "archiving [my] life", haha.

So.. I've been on summer break for about a week and a half now, since I had summer school, and I'm back to school on the 22nd, so yeah... I'm probably gonna be heading back to SLO the weekend before that... hopefully with a ride back up, since the train sucks ass. XP

So far, I haven't really done much this summer... On August 30th, my cousin, Alex, got married, so I went to his wedding in LA. Posted pictures on facebook, but the albums are public, so you can check that in the following links, if you're so inclined...

Pre-Tea Ceremony | Tea Ceremony | Waiting Time | More Waiting Time | Wedding Ceremony | The Reception

So there's that... And last Sunday, the 7th, was the VMAs. It was okay, but didn't seem all that big to me. It was at the Paramount Lot in Hollywood and yeah.. Paramore performed, which was cool.. Rihanna performed Disturbia in the beginning of the show and it just seemed like she couldn't sing AT ALL. x_x Tokio Hotel won Best New Artist, which is awesome, since I voted a bazillion times for them. *heart* And they won against all these big artists in the US -- Miley Cyrus, Jordan Sparks, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift -- so yeah... Go them! XD Also, Britney won all three VMAs she was up for, which kinda surprised me, but whatever... And yeah.. The whole purity ring thing was so dumb 'cause it shouldn't have been such a big deal... and yeah... Hahaha. XP

Anywayz... So yeah, my new favorite band of the moment is Tokio Hotel. They're a band from Germany and they're so cool. The lead singer and the guitarist are twins, but have totally different styles, and they're so cute, haha. XP And yeah.. LISTEN TO THEM. XP

So they're talking about the Chargers on the news right now, which reminds me that the Chargers lost to the Panthers last Sunday, which sucked. First game of the season, and they were so close to winning and there was only two and a half minutes left in the game and then at the last possible moment, the Panthers make a touchdown, get the extra point, and win by two points. x_x Lameeee!

So, obviously since I haven't posted in a while, this post is very ramble-y and disjointed, but who cares. XP At least I'm writing... And jumping around is easier anyway since that's how people think anyway. Plus, I'm too lazy right now to go and edit my post to make more sense structurally. XP

Lastly, I'll just put my schedule for the upcoming Fall Quarter...

CSC 231-01 // MW // 0810-1000
CE 221-01 // MWF // 1010-1100
ARCH 351-01 // MWF // 1310-1800
ARCH 341-01 // TR // 1310-1400
MLL 101-05 // TR // 1410-1600
ARCH 341-11 // TR // 1610-1800

For those who don't remember or whatever, I'm majoring in architecture at Cal Poly SLO and will be going into my third year. ARCH 351 is my architecture studio, obviously -- fifteen hours a week of studio, as usual. ARCH 341 is the practice class that goes with studio -- two hours of lecture a week, and four hours of "activity" for it, but since I have the same studio and activity teacher, we can call this a continuation of studio. CSC 231 is Programing for Engineers, for my ARCE (architectural engineering) minor. CE 221 is Fundamentals of Transportation Engineering, because I want to see if Transportation Engineering is cool, since I'm thinking of doing the joint masters thing for a MS in CRP and MS in Engineering with emphasis on Transportation. The MLL 101 class is actually Chinese (Mandarin) 101, because I want to learn, haha... And that's my 18 units for the quarter. Hopefully doing a language on top of studio won't kill me TOO much, lol. ^_^;;

Until tomorrow (hopefully, haha)...

LAST NIGHT
So yeah.. Went to meet my group.. Got there at 7:00, but Caleb wasn't there and Cody said he was working on his lab, so yeah.. Was just watching Isshin and Patrica work 'cause there was nothing else to do.

At 7:30, Cody came, but he kept going in and out for a while.. Then he came up with a new design idea and I tried to do it in FormZ. Didn't work too well..

Caleb came later and we explained the idea to him and he did the FormZ.

Worked forever and stuff, and made a kinda crappy model, but yeah.. Finished at 2:00. Went back to Stenner, ate cereal, then showered, but the shower drain was clogged or something 'cause the water wasn't draining and I was not in the mood to attempt to figure it out or go to the other shower, so just rinsed the soap out of my hair and then just got out.

Bed around 3:00-ish.. Hard to sleep and yeah..

MORNING
Got up at 6:50 'cause that's when [info]bobbleheadvi called me. x_x Got ready and then yeah..

ARCHITECTURE 132
Didn't really do anything in the beginning.. Caleb wasn't there, so yeah.. Just hung around, looked at other people's.. Caleb came later, but yeah.. He forgot the prints, so yeah.. Talked a bit about our thing, then we had to set out our stuff and go around to check out the other groups.. We had basically nothing, so yeah..

Went around, then later, had to go to Brian's class so we could talk about stuff.. Talked about the details we brought in and yeah.. Stuff.

After that, went back and got to work in our groups while Brent came around to talk to everyone. After he talked to you, you could go...

He talked to us, said he liked what we have now better and yeah.. Then got to go.
Went home at 10:00 and yeah..

AFTERWARDS
Worked on the physics midterm. Around 11:30, went to eat lunch, then finished up the last few and yeah.. I need to go back and look at it later, but break for now..

Later, whenever Cody calls, we're going to Home Depot. BLEH!

I need to work on my speech, but I dunno what to write.. BLEH! But yeah.. Guess I'll be working on that now, since tomorrow, I'm pretty much gonna be working in the shop. x_x

And here -- my new schedule..

ARCH 133 // MWF // 0810-1200
PHYS 132 [LEC] // MWF // 1310-1400
PHYS 132 [LAB] // R // 0810-1100
ENGL 145 // TR // 1610-1800
ARCH 219 // TR // 1810-2000

So yeah.. Got all the classes I want/need, but the times suck. I mean, class from 4:00 to 8:00 at night? That sucks ass right there. I was planning to go to the ARCH history class from 4:00 to 6:00 and just go to the 6:00 to 8:00 class when there were tests, but now I can't do that 'cause I got the English class. *sigh* How lame.. x_x

MORNING
Couldn't fall asleep last night.. It was 12:00 before I could even get to bed. =( But yeah.. sucked. So I got up after [info]aznearthdragon called me at 6:30. =/ Sooo tired. And sucked ass. Got ready and changed, then ate my sandwich. After that, packed up my stuff and left for school. It was 7:45-ish or whatever.. Maybe a little later.

ARCHITECTURE 131
Worked on another axonometric.. BLEH! It was a worm's eye view and I messed up in the beginning and didn't realize until half way through, but wanted to continue it 'cause I didn't want to start over.. And yeah, sucked. I couldn't figure out what I was doing since mine was rotated and it sucked. In the end, I barely had a quarter of it done and I just turned it in. Don't care anymore, you know? Fuck axonometrics. ;_; After that, put up our weekly drawings up and yeah.. went to Brent's class to talk about them.. Basically, they sucked. They showed the few good ones and then said we had to redo them for Wednesday. x_x Also have to fix up our slip cases or whatever 'cause on Wednesday, we're starting on our drawings and whatever we have is what we're drawing. x_x How do they expect us to do so much work? *sigh* I mean, seriously! We have other classes, damnit! *sigh* They just don't care.. >O

After that, went back to our class and talked about the FormZ thing and yeah.. After that, got to leave about 15 minutes early.

BREAK
Went home and worked on my math homework. After that, had about a few minutes before I had to go to class, so yeah..

MATH 142
Took notes and all.. Got a lot of homework. Sucked. Got out of class about 15 minutes early. Just went and sat outside of the English building for a while before going in..

ENGLISH 134
Got our essays back. I got an 11, so yay. After that, had to read some excerpt about dumpster diving.. BLEH! Had to write something too, but I don't remember what. Got our grades for the class.. I have a A-. Good enough for me, lol. Do well on the last essay and then I'm good for that class.

AFTERWARDS
Went home and worked on my math. Around 5:00, went to eat dinner with my suitemates. Then came back and worked on math. After that, did one of my weekly draws of my foot. Then just sat around for a few, then went to shower. After that, glued a bit of my box together and yeah.. I lost a piece. Sucks 'cause now I need to re-cut it! ARGH! Sucks ass. =(

Need to go to the shop tomorrow to finish up on some stuff and re-cut the piece, then gonna go back to my room to glue it together. BLEH! Then will do my other weekly draw and then work on my slip case, I guess.. BLEHHHHH!

I got this thing in the mail about what credits transfer and they put ENGL 101 as A1 and I thought it covered the A2 requirement, so yeah. Now I have to take SCOM 101 and this sucks ass. *sigh* Dumb thing.. Had to rearrange my schedule and stuff and that took a while to get it to work, but here's the new schedule..

ARCH 132 // MWF // 0810-1200
ENGL 145 // TR // 0710-0900 (Waitlist #8)
HNRS 134 (PHYS 141) // MTRF // 1310-1400 (Waitlist #2)
HNRS 101 (SCOM 101) // TR // 1410-1600

I don't really care about ENGL 145 that much.. I dunno if I want to take it or not. I mean, I don't want to have that many units, but I'll just leave it for now and I'll figure it out later.. I think I can get in physics, hopefully.. This sucks though.. I liked my other schedule.. But this is okay too.. BLEHHH!

I need to find out where the advising office or whatever is so I can ask them about the crossing out the four and putting 1/2 there 'cause.. 1/2 a unit? How do you do that? 'Cause that's what they did for all the transfer classes. So yeah.. BLAH.

22 October 2006 @ 10:09 pm
I didn't sleep until 1:30 last night.. or, well, this morning, 'cause I was cleaning a bit and moving my lamp. Now it's by my mirror and trashcan and microwave, but yeah.. I was hoping it would help me when doing my arch projects on the floor, but it doesn't realy work that well. =/ Oh wellz..

So this morning, I woke up around 8:25 and was like 'WTF I can't believe it!' and I was so happy that I slept until EIGHT until I realized, DUH Helen, you went to sleep at 1:30. x_x And unlike usual, I was still hella tired, so I was like, 'Okay, sleep more' but I was like, 'WTF why didn't [info]bobbleheadvi call me?!~' and stuff 'cause he said he'd call at 8:30 and yeah. x_x But I attempted to sleep anyway. Around 9:00, I decided it was time to get up and went to go get ready and stuff. Came back, then worked on my ARCH 131 project until about 10:30, then went to eat brunch. After that, worked on my project some more, then breaked and then called Valerie around 12:30 to tell her I was going over.

Got to Valerie's around 1:00 or whatever and worked on my weekly drawing. Did my compositional alternatives, then went and did the stairs as my final. Did it twice 'cause the second time, the sun moved and the shadow looked better.. So yeah. After thhat, took some pictures of my model, then left around 4:00.

Came back to SG and was jusst relaxing for a few in my room when Eric came over and asked if I wanted to get dinner, so I was like, "Okay" and me, Eric, some dude, Bethany, and Robia went to go eat. After that, came back to my room and worked on scanning my weekly drawing stuff, printing, uploading pictures, burning my project four CD, and making the label for that. Finally, after all that ARCH 131 stuff, attempted to work on my English essay, but yeah.. it's not going so well. =/

Went to shower around 8:30 or whatever and yeah.. Now writing this.

Today wasn't all that bad.. I mean, was working, but I didn't do everything I planned, so it felt more.. laxed? I don't know. Didn't feel as rushed today.. But it may have been the fact that I'm basically stressed out and, you know, some days you just shut down and don't care as much. =/

So planning my schedule for next quarter is very exciting stuff. I mean, I know that I basically can't do anything else and I'm taking what I'm taking, so there's no need to go back to PASS until it's registration time, but you know, curiosity and all.. So I was looking ((the other day)) at the ARCH classes for next year... And yeah. The design class? 1:00-6:00 MWF. Yeah. That's right. Five freakin' hours. Three days a week. Oh JOY. And, you know, that's not even the best part. There's also the fact that there's an ARCH practice class that goes along with it that you must take. That class consists of a lecture TR 11:00-12:00 and activity TR 1:00-3:00 or 3:00-5:00. Yeah. I'm freakin' serious. The absolute cherry-on-top? That's just the major classes. Didn't even add the support classes or GEs in there. Isn't that extreme love for you?

Oh, did I mention that the 1:00-5:00 MWF design studio class happens EVERY YEAR AFTER FIRST? No? Well, there you go. So, next four years, I'm so looking forward to it. x_x Goodbye life, you will be missed.

So basically all my suitemates thought I was going to LA this weekend. I kept getting, "Wait, aren't you suppose to be in LA?" whenever people walked by my door this weekend, since I generally leave my door opened when I'm here.. So yeah. And then today, there was the "Wait, did you go to LA? 'Cause I swear you were here all weekend!" and yeah. Apparently, when all they heard was "A for architecture class" and "weekend" and assumed it was this one. I guess the word "next" doesn't mean anything anymore. Such is life.. Now, I just gotta corner Lauren some time this week and ask her to give me a ride back from the Amtrak station on Sunday. Hopefully she can...

So yeah.. English essay.. it's totally not working. =( *sigh* I need to get it done though 'cause I probably won't have time during the week to do it since it's due on Wednesday and I still have to do my EDES project before the weekend and my ARCH 105 stuff by Thursday and whatever ARCH 131 project we get tomorrow... Plus, math homework. =/

So yeah... Going back to the schedule thing, lol. The fact of the matter is, the schedule options I posted are all of the same class sections. Like, basically there's only one section for those specific times, so if I can't get in them, I'm screwed. Like, ARCH 132, I'm guarenteed in, so I'm not stressing. And the PHYS 141 is Honors, so I'm guarenteed that too. There's only two ENGL 145 classes that work for me, and they're the 7:00-9:00 one and the 3:00-4:00 one. The other times just don't work, so yeah.. I'm thinking the 3:00-4:00 will probably fill up fast since that's, like, prime-time. So yeah.. I'm probably gonna get stuck with the 7:00-9:00, in which case, I really want to get PHIL 230 so my schedule is nice and tidy. If that's full, there's all the other options I made, of course, but they don't work as well for scheduling, so yeah.. That'd just annoy me, but what can I do?

Personally, in the beginning, I was really leaning towards option one 'cause it was beautifully PERFECT, besides the fact that class started at 7:00.. That was my only dislike towards it, but yeah.. I get free afternoons -- done by 2:00. It's all nice and stuff.. But then later on, I've been leaning towards the second option ''cause OMG, been looking forward to TR mornings off for SO FUCKIN' LONG and yeah. With the first option, I'll have to wake up an hour earlier. The problem with the second option though is the three GE classes stacked together in the afternoon. I mean, yeah, I get Wednesdays basically free in the afternoon and I don't have a class as late on Friday ((so it'll be easier to go HOME 'cause I could catch the 4:25 Amtrak...)) and yeah.. Plus, I won't have the afternoons as free, but OMG, mornings! I can actually DO STUFF. Like, SLEEP. And WORK ON PROJECTS. OMG. Which is better, people? Mornings or afternoons? *sigh* Such hard decisions.. =(

And yeah... I'm so fuckin' mad at myself 'cause OMFG I forgot to get a book for ARCH 131! I was scrolling on my LJ 'cause I was trying to find the link to the schedule post and I was going pass all the stikes and stuff, then I got to tomorrow's stuff and I just skimmed over the stuff that was due then saw Book at the end of that and I freakin' flipped. OMG. I called Valerie and she freaked out too 'cause she forgot and yeah.. She said she had a book though 'cause she got a New Testament Bible thing from WOW week, but yeah.. She siad she might have one for me too, but I dunno.. She said she'd call to tell me when she goes back to her room. So if worst comes to worst, the library opens at 7:00, so I'll just go to school early, drop off my shit, and hit up the library and buy a $1 book. x_x

Woke up, as usual, and got ready, but instead of going walking, I stayed home 'cause I had to register for my classes. Registering was easy enough.. Getting into some of the classes I needed was eh. Took forever trying to find classes that weren't full for my GE classes. I couldn't get into an English class, so right now, I'm on the waitlist for three different English classes at the same time. Hopefully I can get into one since I'm pretty high on the waitlists right now.. Anyway, my schedule:

Hopefully the formatting's okay, haha. Anywayz.. For the English up there, I'm not sure which days I'll have since I'm waitlisted. For one class ((the most likely since I'm #1 on the waitlist)), it's MWRF. Another one ((waitlist #2)) is TWRF. The other one ((waitlist #4)) is MTWF.

Besides that, didn't do much else today... Watched Saved by the Bell, went to Costco. Bought some stuff, then went to Food-4-Less and bought food stuff, then went home. Later on, my dad and [info]aznearthdragon went back to Costco and bought a mini-fridge for me.

Already only a few days with the cell phone and we want to change our plan 'cause we don't want the My Five anymore since it's somewhat pointless. Changed it already and it'll switch to just the regular family plan next month.

I'm still somewhat confused about Bluetooth. I think I spent an hour or two researching it so I could explain to [info]aznearthdragon ((since she's too lame to do the dirty work herself, lol)) and I only have a vague understanding of it.. Anyone wanna explain..?
